ABOUT US
The Centre for Shamanic Studies has been founded around the teachings of Jonathan Horwitz and Annette Høst.
The link to their Danish homesite is www.shamanism.dk, where you will find course descriptions on all courses, not just those being run in the UK, and a whole section of articles they have written.
Jonathan has an MA in anthropology and has taught shamanic courses across Europe and North America since 1986. His teachings are centred on experiencing shamanism as a spiritual path and embracing the Circle and all of Nature.
Annette's teaching builds on her own research in Nordic Shamanism, Seidr, and on the cycles of Nature. She has taught courses in shamanism since 1989.
Our introductory course is called 'The Shaman's Journey' and we ask you to do this course first of all as the foundation for practice. If you have a training that we feel covers enough of what is taught on this course, we may at our discretion, admit you directly onto advanced courses.
After this course we feel the real teaching begins, as in our view shamanism is something that takes place between you and your spirit teachers. The purpose of our courses is to help initiate, guide, and inspire your process of development and learning, and it is up to you to find out if and when you are ready for a certain course. Not all of our advanced courses are available every season.
After the basic workshop, you can continue to practice with a local drumming group , or one to one with a shamanic counsellor. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Not all of our advanced courses are available every season Only courses running in the UK this year are currently listed in the courses section, however a list of all the courses we run are listed below.
